The Moon/Star motif is a very popular motif on lockets. There are many, many beliefs connected to the symbol. My favorite is that the Moon/Star represents "the heavens and all that is divine".  This locket is unique because it not only has this fabulous, powerful symbol but is also very "Art Nouveau" in design. I can credit the find of this one to my "Locket Sherpa"..ie, my husband!
